Dagens Industri: from vision to reality
Dagens Industri checked back in on MASSIV+ — and the headline says it better than we could: we're going from vision to reality.
"Industrijättarna växlar upp — tar sig an ödesfrågan" — roughly, "Industry giants shift up, taking on the defining challenge." That was the headline in today's DI, and it's a fair read of the moment. A lot has happened since their last piece: Vinnova funding is in place, we've formed an operating company, hired our first two people, and the partner circle around Microsoft, Alfa Laval, Sandvik, SKF, IKEA and Volvo Cars now includes EY, Stena Recycling, Polestar, Preem, Nordea, FKG, Mobility Sweden and the School of Business at the University of Gothenburg.
But the part of the article we'd pin to the wall is Andrea Egeskog's line from Volvo Cars: "The important thing, in the end, is daring to trust this — that no individual company is being favoured, that we're doing this together." That's the whole thing, really. Filip Ivarsson from Sandvik puts the technical flipside of the same idea: data ownership has to be decentralised. If anyone can profit from the shared data, people will stay off the train.
The other line worth repeating — Klementina Österberg on the current climate headwinds: this is still about competitiveness. It hasn't stopped being that, and with energy prices where they are, it's harder to ignore, not easier.
